We’ve been putting them in the ground at Dartford, right by the crossing, where the M25 coughs out enough exhaust to make a Victorian chimney sweep blush. If you’ve ever sat in that traffic jam (and who hasn’t), you’ll know it’s not exactly a woodland glade. A thousand leafy lungs soaking up that cocktail of fumes won’t change the climate on their own, but they will make the air a bit cleaner for everyone who lives, works, or sits fuming in the queue.​
